What to expect
You will see an Osteopathic physician. We are not chiropractors or cranial sacral therapists, though these techniques are similar. We are physicians with a specialty training in the musculoskeletal system.
Please dress comfortably. Your first visit will begin like most doctors' appointments, with a thorough interview covering your medical, family, social and surgical histories, and other pertinent information. Next, a physical examination is performed as well as "palpatory examination," when applying a light to medium touch is done to check for abnormalities and help to diagnose illness or injury. The findings of the examination are used during osteopathic treatments to gently encourage your body to return to health.
Initial sessions last about one hour, the amount of time needed for accurate diagnosis and treatment overview. A follow-up exam generally lasts about thirty minutes. Our goal is to help you achieve health from within as independently as possible. Initial examinations may seem more thorough than follow-up evaluations, but all key systems are re-evaluated during each visit.
Side effects may involve deep relaxation, a feeling of whole-being balance, alleviation or improvement of symptoms, a surge of energy, and shorter recovery times from illness or injury.
